Typisch für dieses Gestein sind die natürlichen Farbwechsel, Schichtungen und lebendigen Maserungen, die durch unterschiedliche Mineralien wie Eisenoxide, Quarz und Glimmer entstehen. Gerade diese natürlichen mineralischen Einlagerungen sorgen dafür, dass jede Oberfläche ihre eigene Dynamik und Tiefenwirkung entwickelt.Die Kalkstein-Dekore von Slate-Lite überzeugen durch eine eher glattere Oberfläche mit relativ homogenen Mustern und Strukturen.Kalkstein entsteht überwiegend aus kalkhaltigen Ablagerungen ehemaliger Meeresböden. Das Grundmaterial besteht hauptsächlich aus Calciumcarbonat, welches sich über Jahrmillionen verdichtet hat. Charakteristisch sind die ruhigen und harmonischen Strukturen, die eine besonders elegante und zeitlose Optik erzeugen. Is it possible to bend Slate-Lite 90°?

No, classic 90° corners cannot be bent sharply and angularly with Slate-Lite or Translucent. Due to the thin material thickness, our real stone veneers are flexible and can be gently processed over radii or curved surfaces. The possible bending radius depends on the specific product series: Slate-Lite: flexible up to a radius of approx. 5 cm Translucent: flexible up to a radius of approx. 10 cm UltraThin eco+: significantly more flexible thanks to its special cotton backing and even capable of being 3D-formed to some extent. Depending on the application, temperature, and substrate, almost sharp 90° corners are possible. Important: The actual bendability also depends on the specific decor, the stone structure, the temperature, and the processing conditions. Heat significantly increases the material's flexibility.

Die Gesundheit unserer Mitarbeiter ist uns hierbei besonders wichtig:Alle Mitarbeiter in unseren Fabriken müssen entsprechende Schutzkleidung tragen – je nach Arbeitsvorgang sind dies Mundschutz, Ohrenschutz, Schutzbrillen, Handschuhe und Sicherheitsschuhe.Bei der Verarbeitung von Naturstein kommt es normalerweise zu einer hohen Feinstaubbelastung.Durch die innovative Herstellungsmethode von Slate-Lite kann diese jedoch drastisch reduziert werden: Da die massiven Schieferblöcke bei der Produktion von Slate-Lite nicht gemeißelt oder gespalten, sondern schichtweise abgezogen werden, entsteht während dieses Arbeitsschrittes keinerlei Feinstaubbelastung für unsere Mitarbeiter.Die Prozessschritte Sägen und Schleifen der Schieferblöcke werden in unseren Fabriken in Verbindung mit Wasser durchgeführt und auftretender Staub somit direkt gebunden. Slate-Lite is harmless to health!Slate-Lite meets the highest quality standards, including in terms of health.A prime example: Our recently conducted VOC emission test was passed with flying colors (result class A+) .High VOC levels are a health concern: unpleasant odors, irritations and symptoms in humans that cannot be directly attributed to a disease are possible consequences for personal health.As an example, we tested the multicolored slate decor "Falling Leaves" - due to the extremely low measured emissions, the testing institute was even able to prematurely terminate the test chamber test.

How do I care and clean Slate-Lite?

Slate-Lite is generally very easy to care for. However, depending on the application, the appropriate surface protection should be used – especially in areas such as showers, tiled backsplashes, kitchens or other heavily used surfaces. For normal cleaning, a lint-free cloth and clean water are usually sufficient. For heavier soiling, a soft brush or commercially available, non-corrosive household cleaners can also be used. Slate-Lite is compatible with all commercially available, non-corrosive household cleaners. On unsealed or unpainted surfaces – for example, without a 2K or 3K sealant – certain stains can sometimes be treated with grease stain removers, depending on the type of stone. It is always advisable to test on an inconspicuous area first. Outdoors, Slate-Lite can also be cleaned with a pressure washer. Please observe the recommended minimum distance specified by the respective device manufacturer to avoid unnecessarily stressing the natural stone surface; this should also be tested.

How heat resistant is Slate-Lite?

Yes – Slate-Lite is heat-resistant up to approximately 120 °C and achieves EU class Cfl-s1 (according to EN 13501-01 for floor coverings) or B1 (according to DIN 4102). Additionally, Slate-Lite is also available in special fire-resistant versions up to EU class C-s3,d0 upon request. As the temperature rises, the material becomes increasingly flexible and softer. Above approximately 120 °C, the stability of the bond can no longer be permanently guaranteed, depending on the substrate, adhesive, and load. The material typically only ignites when exposed to a direct open flame or extreme heat. For applications in the area of fireplaces, stoves, heating sources or other thermally stressed areas, Slate-Lite is a very popular and widely used solution. It is important to consider the specific installation situation and the prescribed safety distances. Especially with electric or gas fireplaces, the specifications and installation instructions of the respective appliance manufacturer should always be followed. For questions regarding special applications or higher temperature loads, our technical or sales department will be happy to assist with appropriate planning.
